Antalya Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The Yivli Minaret Mosque of the 13th century was built by the Seljuks under Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat, who reigned from 1219 to 1238. It is the oldest structure exhibiting multicupola construction in Anatolia, and is roofed by six semi-spherical cupolas. The 38 metre high fluted minaret which is adorned with dark blue and turquoise tiles, and rises above a square stone base has become the symbol of Anatalya. The Mosque and the building complex that surrounds it, have the appearance of a Turco-Islamic civilization open-air museum.
