Budapest Sights, Sounds and Hotels

A fishmarket place during a period, the Fishermen's Bastion was constructed in the early 1900’s as a viewing platform where exceptional views of Buda and Pest can be enjoyed from the terrace. The name is in honour of the guild of fishermen, as they were responsible for the defence of the area during the Middle Ages. Seven gleaming turrets symbolize the seven Magyar tribes who got into the Carpathian Basin during the 9th century. The lower church belonging to the St. Michael Chapel, a small medieval burial chapel, is located underneath the Bastion and there is a stone statue of St. Stephen and his horse.

Budapest's Fishermen's Bastion is a great way to get your bearings and admire the striking Budapest profile. The welcoming Budapest hotels will ensure your return to explore even more of this fascinating city.
